August 15, 2014. The 68th Independence Day was celebrated at the Consulate General of India, Shanghai this morning with great joy and patriotic fervor. Deputy Consul General Mr. M.P. Bhardwaj hoisted the National Flag and read out the President's Address to the nation, delivered on the eve of Independence Day, to the members of the Indian community and friends of India. More than 150 members of the Indian community attended the morning event on a working day. Also present were Indian students studying in Universities in Shanghai. Indian Community members comprising Megh Kalyansundram, Mandar Ponkshe, Gopal Subramanyam, Nivedita Aradhey and Priya Venkatesh sang patriotic songs on the occasion. An informal gathering over light refreshments followed. A great sense of joy and pride was visible in the attendees.
