Consulate General of India, Shanghai in association with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) organized a series of Bollywood song & dance performances at Nanhu District Cultural & Art Center, Jiaxing (September 9) ; Hangzhou Normal University, Hangzhou (September 11); and Oriental Art Center, Shanghai (September 11). The 11-member troupe was led by Ms Parminder Narula of Indiana Entertainments. The group has to its credit more that 100 shows in India & outside including Canada, USA, UAE, Oman, UK, Holland, Russia, Indonesia, Thailand etc.

The performances drew in huge crowds with more than 600 persons attending the shows in Jiaxing & Hangzhou each, while the performance in Shanghai saw more than 900 persons. The Shanghai show also saw audience coming on to the stage and dancing along with the dancers of the troupe.

The performance in Shanghai was preceded by an ‘India-China Friendship Medley’ sung by Mr Megh Kalyanasundaram. The medley was unique in terms of seamless rendition of popular Chinese songs on Friendship (Peng You) and Love (Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin) with Indian songs on Friendship and Love (Yeh Dosti & Lag Ja Gale) with similar mood and melody woven in to it. The medley, aptly suited to the theme of the Year of Friendly Exchanges, was given a thunderous applause by the audience with many singing along.
