The Consulate General of India, Shanghai organized a brief event today to mark the 145th Birth Anniversary of father of Indian nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The event organized at the statue of Gandhi at Xin Hongqiao Central Park, was attended in large number by members of Indian community and also Chinese admirers of Mahatma Gandhi. After paying the floral tributes, Consul General, Mr. Naveen Srivastava administered the pledge of `Swachh Bharat’ to all the people attending the event. The audience pledged to contribute their best towards ensuring a cleaner India as well as motivating 100 people for doing the same. The ceremony was followed by a rendition of a Gandhi medley (comprising favourite songs of Mahatma Gandhi) by Megh Kalyanasundaram & Gopal Subramanyam. They duo also customized the medley to include ‘Swachh Bharat’ theme in the songs.
