Celebration of 66th Republic Day - Reception by Consulate

 

Consulate General of India, Shanghai hosted a reception on January 26, 2015 on to celebrate the 66th Republic Day of India at Marriott City Centre Hotel. The reception was attended by Vice Mayor of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, Mr. Bai Shaokang, representatives of Shanghai People’s Congress and Shanghai Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference as well as a number of municipal leaders and senior government officials from the provinces of Jiangsu & Zhejiang. Local dignitaries, academics, businessmen, media persons and prominent Indians from Shanghai, Jiangsu & Zhejiang as well as members of the Consular Corps and Indian Community also graced the occasion. More than 400 people attended the reception. In his speech, Consul General highlighted the multi-faceted relations between India & China; the deepening of trade & economic relations; and important role played by East China region in the bilateral economic ties. A colourful and attractive Rangoli, prepared by members of the Indian community, that adorned the entrance of the reception hall, was particularly appreciated by the guests. During reception, tourism promotional films were also screened particularly in view of the fact that 2015 is being celebrated as “Visit India Year”. During the Reception winner of a photo contest held by Consulate Mr. Mr. Zhou Jian Cheng was awarded prize of a free Air India ticket to visit India. The photo contest had been held earlier through Consulate’s social media, where Chinese persons, who had been to India were asked to submit their photographs.
