COMMEMMORATION OF 150TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF TAGORE AT THE SITE OF TAGORE BUST IN SHANGHAI ON MAY 8, 2011

 

On 8th May floral tributes were offered by Consul General Ms Riva Ganguly Das, Vice Mayor of Luwan District Mr. Zhao Zhuping and Vice President of Shanghai Writers’ Association Prof Zhao Lihong at the site of Tagore Bust in Shanghai at the busy Maoming Road-Nanchang Road intersection to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of poet Rabindranath Tagore. This was followed by rendering of Tagore songs by members of the Indian community in Shanghai. A large number of Indians and local Chinese as well as visiting students and teachers from Tagore International School (TIS), New Delhi were present on the occasion. The students of TIS are visiting Shanghai for a joint cultural performance with students of Jinyuan Middle School, Shanghai on May 9th as part of Tagore’s 150th Birth Anniversary celebrations.
