Celebration of the 77^th Independence Day

 The Consulate General of India in Shanghai launched the My Flag, My Pride campaign and conducted a painting competition for children from the Indian community on 04.08.2023 to kickstart the celebration of India’s 77^th Independence Day. The My Flag, My Pride campaign was launched by Ambassador Shri Pradeep Kumar Rawat and Madam Shruti Rawat along with Consul General Dr.N.Nandakumar and Mrs. Sreedevi Nandakumar.

2.  As part of the campaign, a large model of the national flag has been kept in the Consulate premises for the Indian community to paint. The campaign will run upto 14^th August 2023. By getting to colour the tricolour, the campaign seeks to create a feeling of pride about the national flag and seeks to reinforce and strengthen a sense of belonging with their Indian identity.

3.  A painting competition was also organised for children of the Indian diaspora in Shanghai. The painting competition received enthusiastic response from children. While for most of the children, India’s flag was the most identifiable facet, many others drew on subjects such as India’s flora and fauna, the historical aspects and the Red Fort. The recently launched Chandrayaan-3 also caught the imagination of many children who participated in the competition.

4.  The winners of the competiton will be awarded on 15^th August 2023 after unfurling of the flag. Paintings of the children will also be displayed alongwith the large model of the Indian flag produced as part of the My Flag, My Pride campaign.
