Indian Pavilion at CPhI China inaugurated at the Shanghai New International Expo Center today (June 20, 2017)

Consul General inaugurated Indian Pavilion at CPhI at the Shanghai New International Expo Center during the ongoing exhibition in Shanghai today. The Indian Pavilion featured participation from 20 companies who had come from India under the banner of Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (PHARMEXCIL). Most of the participants were already selling intermediates or API’s into the Chinese market. In addition, a large number of Indian companies (another 20 pharmaceutical companies) also participated independently with individual booths. During the discussions with PHARMEXCIL the participants informed Consul General that majority of the participating companies were from Hyderabad, which had emerged as pharmaceutical hub in India, accounting for nearly 40% of API export of India. The Indian companies also apprised Consul General of the difficulties being faced by Indian companies in registration of new APIs for sale in China.
