Indian Food Festival commences in Hangzhou at Lal Qila Restaurant

Consulate General of India in Shanghai along with Hangzhou Municipal People’s Government jointly organized an Indian Food Festival at the Lal Qila Restaurant in Hangzhou in the evening of June 16.

  1. The Indian Food Festival was organized as part of the India Week celebrations, and jointly inaugurated by Consul General Prakash Gupta along with Hangzhou city leadership. On the occasion, Vice Mayor of Binjiang Li Min, and renowned calligrapher Dai Daosen were also present. During the dining, Indian dance performances were also held by artists from the Restaurant, adding to the overall festivity of the atmosphere.
  1. Earlier, all the guests were welcomed in a traditional manner by applying ‘tilak’. A large number of Indian delicacies were put on the main buffet for Hangzhou Food lovers.  It is expected that the Indian Food Festival will continue for a week, and will offer some of the best selection of Indian food to Hangzhou residents.

The India Culture Week comprises of India-China (Hangzhou) Business and Investment Forum; the Photo Exhibition of Buddhist Images; Gupta Art Exhibition at Zhejiang Provincial Museum, Calligraphic Rendition of Chinese translation of Indian Scripture “Bhagavad Gita” at Zhejiang Provincial Museum; a film festival at Zhejiang Provincial Museum, a Painting Exhibition by Chinese artists from Hangzhou Kaiming Art Gallery, who recently visited India on a familiarization trip organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), and have subsequently drawn their impressions of India titled “Journey to India”; a Food Festival, and another Film Festival at Hangzhou Public Library.
  1. All in all, the Festival endeavours to bring unique flavor of India to the people of Hangzhou, through an interactive and immersive experience of various facets of Indian art forms, and is expected to bring a deeper understanding of India to the art-loving people of Hangzhou.
