Consul General Mr. Naveen Srivastava & Mr. Yang Yi, Chief of Staff, Administration Office of Huangpu District People's Government paid floral tributes to renowned poet and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore today on the occasion of his 154th birth anniversary. This was followed by singing of Tagore songs by a group of spirited Indian ladies led by Devarti Ghosh. The other members of the team included Achena Laha, Amrita Talukdar, Venus Chatterjee, Gouri Datta, Beena Waghela, Jayita Mukherjee, Gayatri Mohanty, Debalina Mukherjee, Charu Shrikant, Tanvi K, Anuja Dorle and Priya Venkatesh. The simple ceremony, held at Tagore Bust on Maoming Lu-Nanchang Lu, saw attendance in large numbers from members of Indian community as well as Chinese admirers of Tagore. The Tagore bust in Shanghai, donated by Indian government, was unveiled by Her Excellency The President of India Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil on May 30, 2010 during her state visit to China.
