India designated Guest Country of Honour at 8th China Renewable Energy Conference (CREC) in Wuxi (Jiangsu)

 

Wuxi China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) hosted the 8th China Renewable Energy Conference (CREC) in Wuxi today during which investment opportunities in India’s renewable energy sector were put on display for potential renewable energy investors from the Eastern China region.

2. The Indian Pavilion showcasing India’s renewable energy requirements and strengths was jointly inaugurated by Mr. K. Nagaraj Naidu, Director General of Investments, Technology Promotion & Energy Security Division, Ministry of External Affairs along with Mr. Wang Jinjian, Vice Mayor of Wuxi and Consul General Mr Prakash Gupta.  During the discussions with Vice Mayor Wang, Wuxi companies were encouraged to aggressively explore opportunities of investment in the renewable energy sector in India.

3. The opening ceremony of the 8th CREC was attended by nearly 300 delegates from China and abroad.  Some of these companies were leading energy players from China, US, Europe and Africa.  Deputy Energy Minister of China along with Vice Governor of Zhejiang province was also present at the inaugural ceremony of the 8th CREC.

4. Mr. K. Nagaraj Naidu, Director General of Investments, Technology Promotion & Energy Security Division, Ministry of External Affairs, made a detailed presentation for all Chinese participants at the 8th CREC Plenary Session highlighting the scale of investment opportunity available to Chinese companies in the Solar, Wind and other renewable energy sector.  Mr. Naidu emphasized that given the 100 Giga Watt energy requirement in the renewable space, Chinese companies were presented with a huge market opportunities.

5. It may be noted that leading Chinese companies from the renewable energy sector including TBEA, Canadian Solar, Hareon Solar and GCL have already initiated their operation-investment in solar sector in India.  Earlier in March 2016 Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Shanghai and Wuxi CCPIT also signed a MoU to promote bilateral economic and commercial exchanges, in particular in the renewable energy sector.
