In association with Chaiti, CGI Shanghai organised a special musical concert to promote Indian Classical music amongst Chinese audiences at the majestic Shanghai Centre Theatre yesterday. 

The performance featured Indian Sarod Maestros Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan on the Sarod with accompanying tabla players from India. 

The two hour performance was extremely well received by the 1200 strong mostly Chinese audience who gave them a standing ovation upon completion of the performance.  Some of the tunes played by the artists featured the Desh Raaga as well as rendition of Tagore's poem's which were played on the Sarod.

Chaiti, is an annual musical event organised under the aegis of the Consulate General of India Shanghai, and derives its name from the Chait season in India - marking the transition from summer to spring. 

This was the 2nd edition of showcasing Indian classical music through the platform of the Chaiti in Shanghai this year.  

The next performance of Chaiti featuring Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan is scheduled in Beijing on 27th May evening.  The highly acclaimed artists also held a workshop for young music students from Shanghai at the Aurora Museum earlier in the forenoon today.
