Official visit of Consul General to Yiwu

 

Consul General paid an official visit to Yiwu on 27th April to participate in the 11th China (Yiwu) Cultural Products Exposition. During the exhibition, he was joined in by senior officials from Ministry of Culture along with officials from Municipal Government of Yiwu.

During the visit Consul General also interacted with a large representative group from the Indian community residing in Yiwu and heard their concerns.  It may be noted that nearly 3000 Indian nationals are reportedly residing on a long-term basis in Yiwu, who are mostly engaged in commodities trading.

Later in the evening, Consul General also met with Sheng Qiuping, Party Secretary of Yiwu and discussed ways and means to further deepen cooperation with Yiwu.  Consul General proposed the organization of India Culture Week in Yiwu and requested Party Secretary to lead a delegation of business leaders to India to participate in the ongoing Make in India initiative.  Party Secretary of Yiwu welcomed the proposal and assured steadfast cooperation in implementing the joint plan of action.
