Indian Tea Symposium organized in Shanghai

 

Consulate General of India, Shanghai in association with the Shanghai Tea Institute and Shanghai Tea Association organized a Symposium on Indian Tea on 22nd April 2016 in the function room of the Consulate. Close to 80 representatives from leading Chinese Tea Companies, major retailers and tea agents attend the event.

In his opening address, Consul General of India Mr. Prakash Gupta highlighted the growing economic and commercial relations between India and China and called on representatives of the tea industry to give a further boost to promoting the Indian Tea in China. Introducing the flavors of India Tea to the audience, he mentioned that since India and China had strong tea-drinking cultures, people of both the countries should be offered an opportunity to savor each other’s tea.

Representatives from some of the leading companies in the tea sector like the Luxmi Tea Group, Birla Group and Xiangpiaopiao Food Group made detailed presentations introducing Indian Tea culture and outlined areas in which the Tea industry of both countries could collaborate. The interaction was aimed at acquiring better understanding of business opportunities in both countries and forging new partnerships in the tea industry.

The event also included activities like Indian tea tasting and Q&A session.
