Public Yoga demonstration at Jing An Park, International Day of Yoga

 

Consulate General of India, Shanghai organized a Public Yoga demonstration at Jing An Park on the occasion of International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2015. The event was organized in association with Jingan District Government. The Vice-Mayor of Jingan district Ms. Sun Ping attended the event along with Consul General Mr naveen Srivastava. About 250 yoga enthusiasts from Shanghai came for the event which lasted for 2 hours (from 8 -10 am). Besides the yoga practitioners a number of local residents also came to the event. The Common Yoga Protocol DVD and booklet (translated in Chinese) was distributed to all the participants.

The event at Jingan Park was led by Charat Nirwan, Song Guangming & Shanti ji.

Charat ji has been practicing traditional practice of Yoga since the age of nine. He holds a Degree in Physiotherapy and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Yoga Education. Charat ji incorporates the spiritual, philosophical and moral aspects of Yoga. Charat ji has been involved in the teaching Yoga in India & abroad in Asia and Europe for more than 15 years.

Song Guangming, started Yoga training in Chile and Argentine from 1992 and obtained the Yoga professional diploma from those two countries respectively. In 1995, he worked as the Yoga counsel in "California Asian Martial Art Association". He has started teaching Yoga in China since 1997 and has obtained the Advanced Yoga Teacher diploma issued by China Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.

SHANTI has obtained the Yoga diploma of RYT500 and RYT200. SHANTI has published several books on Yoga. She is trying to integrate traditional Chinese medicine into Yoga Asana practice. Now SHANTI works at some major Yoga studios in Shanghai.
