High School students from Tagore International School, New Delhi and Jinyuan Senior High School, Shanghai jointly presented an impressive cultural performance on May 10, 2011 to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Poet Rabindranath Tagore. A dance performance was also presented by Changning Youth Folk Music Troup. These programmes were held at the auditorium of the Changning District Culture & Art Centre. About 500 people, mostly Chinese, watched the programme and commended the brilliant performance of the young students. This was the first time that students from an Indian and Chinese school jointly presented a cultural performance in Shanghai. The performance was a rich and befitting tribute to Tagore by children who always occupied an important position in Tagore’s works and life. The performance depicted all aspects of Tagore’s multi-dimensional personality through drama, recitation of his poetry and singing songs written and composed by him. The performance received wide acclaim from all those present.
