India-China Artists' Residency Programme 'Re-Union'

 

A week-long India-China Women Artists' Residency Programme 'The Reunion' was inaugurated by Mr. S.K. Ray, Acting Consul General and Ms. Li Rong, Vice Chair, Shanghai Women's Federation at Shanghai Olympic Club Hotel on October 23. The residency comprised 10 women artists from India & 7 women artists from China. During the residency, the artists painted canvases and participated in workshops on Chinese painting and calligraphy. The artists not only produced art works, but also indulged in meaningful dialogue on art perspectives sharing with each other unique styles prevalent in their respective countries. The exhibition comprising works produced by Indian & Chinese artists was inaugurated in Art+ Space on October 28.

The Indian artists also participated in the Tenth Shanghai International Forum for Children, focusing on family education and child development on October 29-30, 2015 in Shanghai. One of the Artists Ms. Vasudha Thozhur delivered a lecture on `Art, the Artists & Education' during the forum.

 

The Artists residency programme in Shanghai was an extension of India-China Women Artists' Residency Programme `Maitri', held in Jaipur last year from November 5-11, 2014.

 

The residency & exhibition was jointly organized by Consulate General of India, Shanghai in association with Shanghai Women's Federation (SWF) and with the support of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
