Ambassador of India H.E Ashok K. Kantha's official visit to Jiangsu Province

 

H.E. Ashok K. Kantha,Ambassador of India visited Jiangsu today on an official visit and called on the H.E. Li Xueyong,Hon’ble Governor of Jiangsu and discussed measures to further deepen bilateral engagement of India with Jiangsu.

Governor Xueyong expressed happiness to witness the deepening of the relationship between China and India-two of the oldest civilizations and the fastest growing economies of the world, and hoped to work together to enhance the cooperation between Jiangsu,a leading province in China in areas covering high-end manufacturing, Information Technology and infrastructure development.

Ambassador Kantha underscored the positive trend in the relationship of the two countries, especially in the last two years with President Xi’s visit to India in 2014 followed by Prime Minister Modi’s visit to China in 2015 and mentioned that the relationship was poised for transformation with the launch of provincial Leaders’ Forum earlier in the year. He stressed that Jiangsu should look at strategic and long-term cooperation with India particularly in the field of agriculture, IT, pharmaceuticals, new and renewable energy production, fisheries and aquaculture among others. He also extended an invitation for a visit by high-level delegation of Jiangsu province along with local business leaders to explore the possibilities of investment and to set up manufacturing units underthe “Make in India” initiative.

Later in the day,Ambassador also visited the Nanjing Medical University and met President Dr. Shen Hongbing and interacted with Indian students. Ambassador appreciated NMU’s efforts at providing excellent facilities to the students, and urged the Indian students to utilize the opportunities to the maximum and play an important role in increasing the interaction between India and Jiangsu.
