Interactive seminar between Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization (SMCEI) and Indian IT Companies

 

The Consulate organized an interactive session with Mr. Dai Haibo, Chairman, Shanghai Municipal Commission for Economy and Informatization (SMCEI) and other senior officials of the Commission, for Indian IT companies based in Shanghai and surrounding region on 19th December 2012. SMCEI is the nodal government organization that formulates policies for overall economic and IT infrastructure development in Shanghai and also oversees the implementation of these policies. Representatives of 12 Indian IT companies which have presence in East China region participated in the seminar. Presentations were made by about IT industry in India and its global reach, and about the operations of individual IT companies in China. From SMCEI presentations were made on the overall development of IT industry in Shanghai, and about implementation of “smart city” plan in Shanghai. The “smart city” plan of Shanghai will involve, apart from installing physical hardware, development of numerous IT applications covering transportation, public health, education, land planning etc. The presentations were followed by a lively Q&A session.
