Consulate General of India, Shanghai joined hands with the Indian Merchants' Chamber (IMC) Mumbai, and CCPIT Shanghai to organize a Business Partnership Conference in Shanghai on April 8, 2013 titled "India Calling". IMC President Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani led a delegation of about 60 Indian businessmen representing diverse sectors. Senior officials from Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) also joined the Conference and invited Chinese businessmen to invest in their state in metro rail projects and other manufacturing industries. The conference, which was attended by about 100 Chinese businessmen and officials from Shanghai Commerce Commission and Shanghai Commission for Economy and Informatisation, focused on enhancing trade and investment between India and China. At a press conference organized on the sidelines of the conference, Consul General and IMC President Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani pointed out huge opportunities for Chinese investors in major infrastructure projects and textile sector in India.
