Consulate General of India, organized an Indian Food Festival on Sunday May 12, 2013. Stalls were set up by several Indian restaurants from Shanghai to cater Indian delicacies. China Wine and Spirits set up a stall to give a taste of Indian wine. The Consulate also released a book "Tastes of India in Shanghai". The book aims to familiarize the local populace with the rich diversity of Indian food as well as a listing of all the Indian restaurants in Shanghai. Chairperson of Foreign Affairs committee of the Shanghai Municipal Peoples' Congress Ms. Zhang Lili, Deputy Director of Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (SPAFFC) Mr. Wang Xiaoshu and several other local Chinese officials graced the occasion. The opening of the food festival was also accompanied by an traditional Indian dance performance. The food festival saw a large turnout from the local community in Shanghai.
