Aug 15, 2012. The 66th Independence Day was celebrated at the Consulate General of India, Shanghai this morning with great joy and patriotic fervor. Consul General Mr Naveen Srivastava hoisted the National Flag and read out the President's Address to the nation, delivered on the eve of Independence Day, to the members of the Indian community and friends of India. More than 100 members of the Indian community attended the morning event on a working dayAlso present were Indian students studying in Tongji University, East China Normal University and Indian medical students from Suzhou and Nantong universities.Indian Community members comprising Mandar Ponkshe, Madhav Agharkar and Priya Venkatesh sang patriotic songs including "Vande Mataram" on the occasion. An informal gathering over light refreshments followed. A great sense of joy and pride was visible in the attendees.
