Dance Performance 'Sari' by Daksha Sheth Company at the India Culture Week during Shanghai International Arts Festival

Daksha Sheth Dance Company presented three awe-inspiring performances depicting the story of the elegant Indian garment at Shanghai Normal University on November 10 & 11. The show highlighted the various stages that are involved in the making of a sari, from the cotton pod to the magnificent fabric used, eventually draped in a range of styles. Merging classical and contemporary dance forms, the shows depicted India’s tradition of hand-woven textiles with its incredible range of colour, texture and design, which were millenniums has been one of the defining and visually striking elements of the Indian persona. The shows were hugely applauded by the audience.
