Chaiti Arts Wall, dedicated to Indian Classical Music, Inaugurated in Shanghai

Chaiti Arts Wall dedicated to the Indian classical music was inaugurated by Consul General Shri Prakash Gupta and Director General Transport Bureau Zhenjiang province, Mr Yu Zhihong at one of the local Indian restaurant - Masala Art in Shanghai on March 10th afternoon. The Wall, which depicts the doyenne of Indian classical music and also portrays the journey of the music performances organized by Chaiti Foundation in Shanghai and is aimed at promoting and popularizing classical forms of Indian art among Chinese audiences. On the occasion, two Chinese artists Mr Ren Wang & Ms Jin Shanshan performed Sitar and Bharatnatyam dance respectively, delighting the audiences. Ms Jin also explained the various forms, called ‘mudras’ of the dance Bharatnatyam to the audience. Consul General, while addressing the gathering on the occasion, emphasized the role of music as a bridge between two ancient cultures and appreciated the hard work being done by Chaiti Foundation. Director General Yu thanked the performers, and congratulated the organizers for holding the event. He noted that the various art forms, and particularly Indian classical music helps bring people together. The event was attended by a substantial number of Indian community, and in addition several other music lovers from different part of Shanghai also attended. The event was followed by light Indian refreshments.
