Official Visit of Consul General to Wuxi (Jiangsu) on 18 March 2017

1. Consul General Prakash Gupta paid an official visit to Wuxi (Jiangsu Province) on 17 March 2017 and interacted with Mr. Wang Quan, Mayor of Wuxi Municipal People’s Government to discuss ways and means to further deepen economic and cultural cooperation between India and Wuxi. 

2. During the meeting with Mayor Wang Quan, Consul General invited Wuxi leadership to lead an investors delegation in the renewable energy sector in the first half of 2018. A proposal to organize the largest celebration of the 3rd International Day of Yoga at the scenic Lingshan Temple in Wuxi was also submitted to Wuxi city leadership for their consideration. 

3. In addition, Consul General also attended the last and final performance of the ICCR troupe – A to Z Bollywood Dance performance at the Jiangnan University Auditorium, which was attended by more than 1000 local residents and students from Wuxi. The event was jointly organized by CGI Shanghai in partnership with Wuxi CCPIT and Jiangnan University, Wuxi.  Vice President of Jiangnan University, Chairperson CCPIT Wuxi and Director General of FAO of Wuxi Municipal Government attended the Bollywood dance performance. 

4. Earlier, Consul General also paid a visit to Wuxi First People’s Hospital to inquire the well being of an ailing Indian national, who was admitted in a critical condition last week. Consul General met with doctors supervising his treatment and requested hospital authorities to ensure that best possible treatment and facilities were extended to the Indian national.
